A healthy workplace will be characterized by staff who are motivated, supported one another and feel secure in their work.

Managers of nurses can observe the interactions among staff to evaluate their workplace for healthy relationships.

Are there signs of trust, respect, and colllegiality? Or are there toxic or dysfunctional interactions between staff members?

Nurse managers should take steps to foster positive interactions even among the lowest-ranking staff members.

If the foundation is not solidified by healthy interpersonal relationships then any efforts to create positive workplaces will be ineffective.

This Discussion examines how employees interact at your organization and with other organizations.

Positive psychology, which is a theory of well being that helps employees to feel positive and builds healthy relationships with one another, is also explored.

Introduction

Leadership in a hospital refers to the ability to influence others towards providing quality healthcare.

Leadership means influencing people to create a positive workplace environment (Langlois 2012.

Good leadership promotes trust and respect among hospital staff. This improves quality in health care delivery.

Leadership is responsible in building trust, respect, support, communication and collaboration in the workplace.

Leadership strategies can be used to create a positive working environment and encourage staff to do their jobs well (Manion (2011)).

We will discuss leadership strategies that can help build healthy relationships between hospital staff.

It also suggests a psychological strategy which can improve positive to negative interactions at work.

Discussion

To foster positive relationships in a nursing care hospital, the following leadership strategies can be applied: developing staff skills; identifying relationships needs; and creating an atmosphere for work.

Building staff skill is key to building a good team.

This will ensure that all nurses have the skills and reliability to perform their duties.

It will be possible for nurses to collaborate by learning skills from staff members.

To improve skills at all levels, I will focus on all nurse categories.

These include LPNs as well as RNs.

The second strategy is to identify relationships within the workplace and determine their needs.

This strategy allows us to recognize the needs and provide the necessary measures to improve or foster workplace interaction.

In this instance, I will concentrate my attention on assistant nurses. They can work long hours after receiving education and treatment from the RNs.

An additional leadership strategy is to create a positive working environment by fostering positive emotions. (Isolani (2013)

These can be extrinsic or intrinsic motivational interventions that encourage positive emotions and improve morale in the workplace.

This strategy needs to be applied to all levels of nurses to promote coordination and support within the hospital.

To implement a leadership strategy, it is crucial to integrate a positive psychology strategy that can increase positive to negative interactions in your workplace.

I will be using a non-linear leadership style and implementing six psychological strategies to improve the positive to negative interactions.

The non-linear approach of leading staff will create positive psychological workplaces that allow employees to act on their own initiative and not be forced to do their work (Langlois, 2012).

The PROPEL strategy is one of six strategies that will promote positive psychology in the workplace.

These strategies promote passion, optimism. proactivity, relationships. energy, and legacy.

These strategies will enable staff to experience positive and negative emotions in the workplace.

These strategies aim to encourage leadership at work to foster a working environment that meets employees’ expectations and retains them.

Conclusion

According to the discussion, the focus of leadership in the healthcare sector has to shift away from a command-and control style and embrace new approaches that enable healthy relationships and allow for quality service.

The modern leader in a workplace should be focused on building healthy relationships with employees and encouraging positive psychological interactions.BibliographyIsolani, L. (2013).
